Khoi San Bow Instrument Making

Event information

The Bow instrument, also known as 'uHadi', is a traditional percussion instrument used by the Xhosa people, as well as the Khoi San. Join Collin "The Bushman" Meyer and Earthskills Africa for a lesson on how to make and play this beautiful instrument.

Collin Meyer is an activist and prominent representative of his community. He addresses some of the bigger issues in South Africa through his music, having performed influential songs since he was 19. As guests connect to the history of Meyer's Khoi San culture in the form of its music, they are also offered Khoi San language lessons to further deepen their experience of the culture.

As a storyteller, representative, and teacher, Meyer brings forth his offering to the Earthskills community, allowing guests to participate in spaces and ceremonies that they otherwise might not be exposed to, or are typically far removed from.
