The Karoo Gariep Sheep Farming experience sees visitors watch how sheep are fed and paired, and how meat and wool are produced in the most sustainable way possible.
The sheep at Karoo Gariep are divided into eight groups, after which they pair and lambs are born every month. Guests see how the different groups are fed, and an informative guide takes each group to explain their needs and what processes are taking place. Guests are able to interact with lambs and see what nurturing is required to make sure they grow up to be strong sheep.
This experience is a chance to witness the outcome of a ten year project, which makes use of the least amount of water and land to have a minimal carbon footprint. The tour is a full day 24-hour experience. Snacks and water are included, although all meals are excluded. While the farm is not wheelchair friendly, service animals are welcome.
