Every Thursday night, karaoke takes centre stage at The Armchair Theatre. The tables that usually line the floor are packed well before the first song, and by the time karaoke kicks off at 8pm, the room is packed. All the tables are taken and people stand wherever there's room, drinks in hand. Booking for singers opens at 7pm, when names and song requests start filling the list.
Once karaoke gets going and the lyrics hit the screen, the focus moves to the stage. Colourful lights and loud sing-alongs quickly set the night apart from a usual Thursday at the bar. Anyone needing a break from the busy stage can head to the more relaxed outdoor bar area or upstairs, where there’s a pool table and a balcony for some fresh air.
Street parking is available in Observatory, though the area gets busy, so be prepared for a short walk.
