Judd's Local is a family-owned restaurant and wine bar on upper Kloof Street, run by Erna and Bryan Judd since its move from a small winelands bakery into the city. The kitchen focuses on elevated comfort food, from snoek tacos and West Coast crayfish rolls to burgers, tapas and vegan options, served across a cosy interior and street-facing verandas overlooking Lion's Head.
Every Tuesday, Judd's runs a free wine tasting, with a different wine representative pouring and talking through a rotating selection each week, spanning both established Cape producers and smaller, lesser-known wineries. The restaurant's broader wine list has previously earned it Best Short List at the Star Wine List of the Year awards.
Beyond the weekly tastings, Judd's hosts a monthly long-table supper club, seating up to 20 guests around a single shared table for a family-style dinner built on seasonal, South African-leaning dishes. Wine at the supper club is curated from producers the Judd family favours, often supplemented by bottles from Bryan Judd's own cellar, with visiting winemakers featured as part of the evening.
The supper club costs R550 per person, including wine, water and coffee, with seating limited given its intimate, communal format.
