Established in 1982 in Stellenbosch’s Devon Valley, the estate is known for innovation, having introduced the first South African red sparkling wine and the first Sauvignon Blanc-based sparkling wine. Winemaker Matthys Botha continues this tradition, crafting a range of lively Cap Classiques and sparkling wines that have earned multiple awards.
Visitors can enjoy a wide variety of tasting options, from sparkling wine paired with nougat, chocolate, or cheesecake, to pizza and bubbly combinations prepared in collaboration with the onsite restaurant, Cucina Di Giovanni. Non-alcoholic tastings are also available, and children can join in with juice and pizza pairings. Seasonal offerings like sparkling wine ice lollies and playful “poptails” add a fun twist to the experience.
Beyond tastings, the estate features cheese platters, a retail store for wine and memorabilia, and Cucina Di Giovanni’s full restaurant menu of wood-fired pizzas, pasta, seafood, and grills served with vineyard views. With elegant spaces and dedicated packages, the House of J.C. Le Roux also hosts private functions and conferences, making it a destination for both everyday visits and special occasions.
