This collection features darkly coloured sculptures and designs, which showcase Maweni's impressive ability to negotiate materials through handcrafting. It is the biggest collection of the artist's furniture, lighting and vessels Chuma Maweni has ever shown.
Offering a dialogue between history and present, the artist places Xhosa pottery traditions alongside contemporary design practices and aesthetics. It is a meditation of time and clay. The exhibition's title, 'iMvelaphi' translates to 'where I come from'.
