Passion for art and an enthusiastic nature inspired Isabel Roos to move from retail art in Stellenbosch to opening up her own gallery, Imbizo, in Ballito. Her love for all things South African and adoration for helping place pieces which reflect personal styles, tastes and ethos are the qualities that have made her galleries in Ballito and Umhlanga, The Pearls, such successes.
Imbizo not only displays a large selection of works from top South African painters and sculptors, but also hosts solo and group exhibitions regularly displaying both well-known and emerging artists.
From corporates to individuals, Imbizo Gallery provides a client-friendly ambiance and offers a complete experience ranging from rental, sourcing, commissioning, framing, hanging and shipping to all destinations. Imbizo also works closely with a few selected interior decorators, who acknowledge and understand the importance and influence of art in the daily lives of their clients.
The name Imbizo derives from the Zulu word for ‘gathering and coming together’, and that is exactly what Roos wanted: a place for people to meet and be part of a community, where they can come and enjoy South African art, a place where they can feed their soul.
