Event information
Every Saturday morning at the Hermanus Cricket Club over 90 traders come together to sell quality and environmentally responsible handmade hand-crafts, farm fresh produce, artisan bread and a variety of deli foods. Patrons can enjoy live music and bring their children along for the many fun children’s activities available on market days.
The market is a local institution, established 14 years ago. Every vendor chosen by the market ensures they produce high-quality products and use sustainable practices. No vendors are allowed to use single-use plastics, all packaging must be biodegradable, recyclable or compostable. The market aims to recycle 70% of the waste created.
The market is a haven for kids, not only will kids enjoy playing on the sandpit or jungle gym, but a popular “Bugz” train gives them rides around the market. Face painting, henna tattoos, and crafts are available, with children's toys and clothing also for sale. Beauty, a market staple, also regularly entertains kids with her puppet shows. Dogs are also welcome in the market as long as they are kept on a leash and well-behaved.
Hermanus Country Market encourages patrons to bring their own bags and baskets for purchases, as well as mugs and glasses for beverages to minimize waste.
