Hazel Food Market in Menlo Park has more than 70 stalls selling food from all over the world, from Armenia to Zimbabwe. The European-style food market trades fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, artisanal bread, home-grown herbs, flowers and freshly baked cakes and deli foods every Saturday morning.
Guests can choose from distinctly local dishes such as sosaties, vetkoek, koeksisters and gourmet boerewors rolls and biltong. Indian, Thai, Portuguese, and Mexican dishes are sold, with American style barbecues and burgers also on the menu. Dessert is not left out as guests are spoilt for choice between homemade ice-cream, waffles, cake slices, brownies and treats like toffee and fudge. Alcohol beverages are replaced with fresh smoothies, iced tea and juices to ensure the market is a family-friendly environment. Children will also find a play area with a jungle gym and jumping castle.
The market is found next to Greenlyn Village Centre and has plenty of seating and relaxation areas. Dogs are welcome as long as they are on a leash.
