Event information
This backpacker hostel caters to international travellers, students, interns, volunteers and digital nomads seeking affordable accommodation with a community focus. The property operates three houses: the main house with all facilities including a shared kitchen with lots of fridges, a private room house with four en-suite rooms, and a long-stay house for extended visits of several months. Dormitory rooms include a women-only option, with all rooms providing linen and either shared or private bathrooms.
The facility features an outdoor swimming pool, a garden with braai facilities, a bar area, and common spaces designed for socialising and coworking. Free wifi operates in public areas. A 24-hour reception desk offers tour arrangements, luggage storage and laundry facilities. Digital access controls operate in dormitories for security. Optional breakfast service is available on request, with themed dinners including homemade pizzas and chicken curry served at the property.
The establishment has operated since 1994 as a BazBus stop. The hostel emphasises environmental awareness with a greywater system, solar panels and extensive recycling programmes. Under new management, the property describes itself as not a party hostel but rather a space embracing positive energy and meaningful conversations.
The location provides walking distance access to Groote Schuur Hospital (1 kilometre), UCT Health Sciences Campus, and Main Road establishments including cafes, bars, vintage thrift stores and vinyl record shops. Pick n Pay and Spar supermarkets are 800 metres away. Observatory Train Station is 600 metres from the property, approximately a five to seven minute walk.
Free parking available onsite. Monthly rates and flexible stay arrangements available on request.
