Event information
Gold Reef City is an amusement park located on an old gold mine and is themed around the gold rush.
The buildings and rides within the park are designed to mimic the same period. Some of the popular roller coasters include The Anaconda, one of two inverted roller coasters in the world and currently the record holder for the fastest and tallest inverted roller coaster in Africa.
The Tower of Terror is also popular. It is a vertical-drop roller coaster which features a drop of 50 meters, which is the record holder for the current tallest and fastest roller coaster in Africa and also the most forceful coaster in the world.
The theme park also includes many children's rides as well as traditional carnival games where prizes are up for grabs. Dining options are mostly fast food and include King Pie, Chip 'n Dip, Anat and others. Sit-down restaurants include Mugg and Bean, Dig Inn and Wimpy. Various concerts and performances are also held in Gold Reef City.
Other attractions on site include the Apartheid Museum, a Gold Mining museum that provides underground tours and The Lyric Theatre.
