Event information
Now in its fifth year, Garden Town Stellenbosch runs for ten days with open gardens, floral celebrations, local makers, food, wine and outdoor experiences. It is a Stellenbosch Municipality initiative hosted by Visit Stellenbosch. Highlights include the Town Hall Garden Show, Market and Tea Garden from 23 to 31 October and the Grand Flower Parade on 27 October.
This year’s programme gives conservation a strong place. The Bottelary Hills Renosterveld Conservancy, set up in 1992, protects about 1,500 hectares of critically endangered Renosterveld, and several participating estates are WWF Conservation Champions, including Hartenberg, Mooiplaas, Zevenwacht, Neethlingshof, De Morgenzon and Koopmanskloof.
Conservation-linked experiences include a vintage military truck wine adventure through the Bottelary Hills, a Devon Valley vineyard walk, a regenerative farming tractor tour at Hartenberg, mindful photography at De Morgenzon, a trail run at Neethlingshof, a sunset hike to the hills’ highest point and a Renosterveld cycle and fun run at Jordan.
Some experiences have limited capacity, so advance booking is recommended.
