Event information
Good food and drink, qualify craft and handmade goods, upbeat local live music and shaded relaxation areas under the historic Oak trees can all be found in the Franschhoek Village Market.
The market is open every Saturday and some of the regular traders include unique potters, African clothing designers, local painters and bead artists, farmers, chefs selling international cuisine and even traders selling eastern spices, vintage goods and jewellery.
Some patrons partake in a game of French Boules on the market’s Boules court, and a large competition is hosted annually with up to 45 teams. Another annual event is the market's Bastille Festival where the valley’s French Huguenot heritage is celebrated and visitors are encouraged to dress in the French flag colours.
The Franschhoek Village Market also features a large children’s play area with a jungle gym and trampoline. Pets on a leash are allowed. Entrance and parking are free. Music lineups and events are announced on the market’s social media pages.
