Event information
Every year, the Franschhoek Village Market hosts a two-day Christmas Market where locals and hundreds of holiday makers spend a day shopping and browsing under the historic oak trees located in the old church gardens.
Visitors can access affordable artisan foods paired with the best wines from the Franschhoek surroundings and shop for some handcrafted goods. The whole family is welcome, with there being a play area for the kids and all furry pets welcome on a leash.
With over 100 hand-picked traders, visitors can expect unique arts and crafts, vintage clothing, antiques and a remarkable variety of delicatessens, fresh produce, craft beer, and coffees amongst many other treats.
Food and wine have been defining features of Franschhoek, the Cape's French Corner, since its founding years. A group of 176 hard working and principle-bound French Huguenots including farmers, viticulturists, and artisans found this town in 1688, and their pioneering legacy lives on.
It’s only fitting that a thriving village market continues the Franschhoek legacy with high-quality goods being traded in the town centre, providing a market space for producers, traders and buyers.
Franschhoek Village Market has consistently been rated as one of the best markets in the Cape region.
