Event information
The Cape Guild of Weavers invite those who wish to learn to weave tapestries and cloths, or learn to crochet, to a number of guided workshops taking place this Autumn season during their ExTex2024.
Featured on 5 May is a 'Learn to Crochet' workshop from 2pm to 5pm. Attendees are taught to master the basics of crochet by learning to crochet a granny square. A beginner's crochet kit is also provided.
On the same day and at the same time, there is the Cloth Weaving workshop has attendees exploring their own life's story through intuitive stitching and fabric collage. Participants are guided to access little pieces of their story using intuitive techniques. These gathered narratives are then brought to the fabric using collage and simple stitching to create a fabric piece representing something of their own unique story.
Finally, there are two weekend Tapestry Weaving workshops taking place on 27 & 28 April, as well as 4 & 5 May. On either weekend, between 10am and 4pm, participants learn the fundamental techniques of tapestry weaving, guided by a skilled instructor passionate about the craft. At the end of the workshop, attendees may take home their beautiful tapestry sampler, showcasing their newfound skills and creative expression.
