Event information
Entanglements is a grassroots, DIY festival dedicated to exploratory and experimental sound, inviting audiences to engage with music in new and unexpected ways. Hosted by the Sonic Exploration Network of Southern Africa, the festival builds on the legacy of earlier experimental platforms while carving out a space that is intentionally open, inclusive, and curious. Rather than focusing on genre or convention, Entanglements centres the act of listening itself, encouraging audiences to experience sound as something fluid, immersive, and evolving.
Across multiple days, the programme brings together a diverse range of performances, improvisations, and sonic experiments, alongside daytime sessions that include workshops, talks, and deep listening experiences. Film screenings and collaborative moments further expand the offering, creating an environment where sound is explored not just as entertainment, but as a way of thinking and feeling.
While some elements may challenge traditional expectations of music, the festival’s approach remains welcoming and accessible.
