The EcoActive annual Beach Run celebrates 10 years of empowering youth in the community.
EcoActive's goal is to empower, uplift, and upskill communities through various Positive Youth Development (PYD) programs.
Established in 2014, EcoActive was created to address the concerning drowning statistics among at-risk youth in different communities. Through the Watersmart interactive presentations and Learn-to-Swim initiatives in underprivileged schools in Lavender Hill and Capricorn, EcoActive has played a significant role in increasing water safety awareness among at-risk youth.
In 2019, EcoActive identified the rising dropout rates in schools where the programs are conducted and launched the Dropout Prevention program to address this critical issue among targeted learners.
The Beach Run is a day filled with fun, fitness, and positive impact. It aims to raise awareness and funds for EcoActive's Drowning and Dropout Prevention initiatives, contributing to the safety and brighter futures of youth.
The run starts at the first circle of Surfers Corner on the beachside, heading towards Strandfontein along the shoreline before looping back towards Muizenberg.
Participants can take part in the 5km or 7 km run.
