Event information
In celebration of Cape Town Opera’s 25th Anniversary, the company is restaging its first ever production – Lucia di Lammermoor - under the direction of the celebrated founder of Cape Town Opera, Angelo Gobbato. 'Lucia di Lammermoor' is a dramma tragico staged in three acts by Italian composer Gaetano Donizetti.
Donizetti's masterful opera tells the heart-wrenching tale of a doomed love affair set against a backdrop of family feuds and political intrigue. The performance features Cape Town Opera’s Fleur du Cap-winning stars Brittany Smith (soprano) and Lukhanyo Moyake (tenor) as the leads, as well as the Cape Town Opera Chorus, with Kamal Khan returning from the USA to conduct the Cape Town Philharmonic Orchestra.
Guests for the performance on 16 June can also enjoy a memorable post-performance event, featuring complimentary wine and canapés, birthday cake and speeches to mark this wonderful occasion for Cape Town Opera. The dress code for this event is black tie.
