Event information
The Creative Native Motor Show & Picnic brings classic vehicles, food, music, art, and more to the historic James Hall Museum of Transport.
On the day, the Museum showcases its valuable historic transport collection, artefacts and memorabilia through guided museum tours. Included in the festivities of the day is a curated outdoor display of classic and vintage cars and motorbikes by various motor clubs and private collectors.
This family fun day is accompanied by a vintage market, live music entertainment, children’s activities and a variety of food stalls selling all kinds of delectable food and refreshments. As part of the exciting programme, the museum also avails its iconic 1952 London Bus for thrilling rides around town. Guests can also expect music sets from Buhle Mbongwa, Lelowhatsgood, Trev The Japanese, June Jazzin and Osmic.
The festival forms part of Arts Alive, the City of Joburg’s annual flagship programme. It sets out to provide a platform for local communities to learn about the city’s valuable history and heritage and also aims to encourage a museum-going culture.
Visitors are encouraged to bring their picnic blankets, cushions, and chairs to enjoy the activities of the day in a relaxed environment.
