The Cape Town Philharmonic Winter Symphonies concert series consists of three concerts, with the first being conducted by eminent maestro Thomas Sanderling.
Sanderling’s first concert is of works by Brahms, with the stunning violinist Andrey Baranov as the soloist in the Violin Concerto. The main work is the Symphony No. 4. Baranov is the winner of the Queen Elisabeth Violin Competition of 2012, the Benjamin Britten and Henri Marteau International Violin Competitions, and a prizewinner of more than twenty other international competitions.
Sanderling’s celebrated career of more than 50 years has taken him to all the great stages of the world and he has received numerous awards for his artistic achievements.
The pre-concert talk on the evening’s works will be presented by John Woodland.
