Event information
The first event in a series designed to connect South Africa's beloved authors and their readers, each session of Chapter One includes a live author reading, engaging Q&A and refreshments for everyone. With only 30 seats available, every guest can personally ask the featured author questions, experience the reading firsthand, and connect with like-minded readers in the community.
The inaugural guest is award-winning writer and cultural commentator Haji Mohamed Dawjee, who will discuss her bestselling book 'Here’s the Thing': a collection of essays offering insights into grief, ageing, and parenting. Dawjee currently serves as Head Global Copywriter at Virgin Active South Africa, and previously published 'Sorry, Not Sorry', a personal account of navigating post-apartheid South Africa as a woman of colour. Her work has been featured on platforms including the BBC, Tortoise Media, the Sunday Times, and the International Centre for Journalists.
