Tastings are guided by the friendly and knowledgeable tasting room staff. The boutique wine experience is a selection of five wines for only R100pp. Guests have been known to include the Maximus and the G limited release wines. Also you can’t go wrong with the Hussey’s Vlei, an elegant Sauvignon Blanc that is certainly a Buitenverwachting favourite. If you are looking for something to eat with your wine, you are welcome to try one of the delicious varieties of charcuterie platters that are all homemade by the Buitenverwachting kitchen staff.
Buitenverwachting has one of the most beautiful picnic settings in Cape Town and is worth a visit. Platters on the lawn work on a first come first served basis, so be sure to arrive early to avoid disappointment. Savour your selection with only the best quality charcuterie, cheeses, bread, tapenades, jams, and other deliciousness. A long time favourite is the homemade feta, olive & sundried tomato tapenade while all the pâtés and tapenades are homemade by the kitchen staff. It truly is the perfect place to come and spend quality time with your family and friends.
The restaurant is situated in the original thatch and whitewashed Cape Dutch building forming part of the historic Buitenverwachting Wine Estate. Beyond Restaurant believes in sourcing locally, the restaurant underscores its commitment to supporting smaller growers, farmers and producers who form part of a sustainable supplier ecosystem.

Tours at Buitenverwachting are offered by The Constantia Wine Tour with Buitenverwachting wine estate added as one of the destinations. After a morning filled with breathtaking scenery and a stunning array of wines you then proceed to Buitenverwachting Wine Estate where you will enjoy a glass of wine & 3-course lunch from Chef Edgar Osojnik's A la Carte menu and kitchen. If your tour is on a Sunday then we will enjoy lunch at either Catharina's or 1682 Bistro just because Buitenverwachting is closed on a Sunday.
