Botsalano Game Reserve is a 5800 hectare game reserve north of Mafikeng. It’s located on flat land which is Kalahari bushveld and Acasia and Karee woodlands.
It's a prolific breeding ground for various types of antelope, and has more than 200 identified bird species. The reserve boasts over 2000 head of rhino and antelope. Catching a glimpse of white rhino is often a highlight on a trip here.
There is access to an extensive network mountain biking and hiking trails, which allows visitors to wander the bush at random. There are very basic camp sites, with toilets, water, showers and braai areas.
Botsalano Game Reserve is the site of one of the oldest volcanic craters in the world that extends through the park into Botswana. It is near the town of Ramatlabama close to near the South Africa/Botswana border.
