Event information
Bites and Sites presents a different way to explore South Africa’s rainbow nation: by sharing its many cultural flavours and cuisines.
Founded in 2010, the diverse team includes cooks, artists, community leaders and tour guides.
Their Classic Cape Cuisine Walk offers a taste of homegrown teas and Cape sweet treats, beef snacks, fresh artisanal breadsticks and award-winning cheeses and wines, concluding at the oldest hotel in Stellenbosch for a lunch platter. The Foodies On Foot tour serves a lunch platter, beef snacks, and handcrafted beer while allowing guests to view art on a leisurely walk. The tour includes a visit to the Botanical Gardens, a sensory gin experience, and a chance to taste liquid dessert at a coffee laboratory.
The coffee laboratory is also toured in the Bites In A Box tour, which adds an educational walk in the old town centre. The Kayamandi Township Tour and Xhosa Lunch is a chance to interact with the community and receive a Xhosa cooking lesson and lunch.
Bites And Sites Food Tours run Mondays to Saturdays and must be pre-booked. Food tours are not suitable for lactose intolerant guests or guests requiring gluten-free meals.
