Event information
The Bijou’s Summer Open Studio centres on Call & Response, a group exhibition that asks what happens when artists create in dialogue with one another. Resident and guest artists collaborate across mediums, genres and narrative forms to explore how their work changes in relationship with each other.
The Open Studio Night on Friday, 30 October runs from 5pm to 9pm, with the exhibition, a chance to meet the artists, live music and community connection. After that, the exhibition can be viewed by appointment until 7 November.
On Saturday, 7 November, studio tours and demonstrations run from 11am to 2pm, with doors opening at 10am. Visitors can explore the working studios and the creative processes behind the work. The Bijou is an Art Deco cinema, built in 1941, that now houses artist studios and workshops, and it holds Open Studios twice a year.
