Sit the Folk Down marks the release of its Christmas compilation album, Big Christmas Africa, with an all-ages outdoor concert at Muratie Wine Estate in Stellenbosch. The album features South African musicians putting their own spin on classic Christmas and holiday favourites.
The concert is anchored by the house band, The Misty Cliffs, led by Nick Turner, with guest appearances from musicians featured on the album, so familiar carols come with a distinctly local flavour.
The organisers are also running a gift drive for the Pebbles Project, and guests are invited to bring a small gift to place under the Christmas tree. Suggested items are art and craft supplies such as crayons, pencils, paint, clay, paper, scissors and glue, and essentials like wet wipes, roller towel, facecloths and hand soap.
