The details
Beau Constantia - situated at the top of the Constantia Valley - is renowned for one of the best views in Cape Town.
Its vines are planted to an elevation of 350 meters above sea level on some of the steepest agricultural slopes in the Cape. These lovingly nurtured vines are spoilt with panoramic views of the Stellenbosch and Helderberg Mountain ranges and over False Bay. The farm includes an indoor and outdoor wine tasting area, plus the award-winning Chefs Warehouse Constantia restaurant.
After devastating fires destroyed the fynbos and pine forests on the property in 2000, the slopes were cleared and terraced, thereby exposing great potential for the planting of vineyards.
As for wine tasting at Beau Constantia, booking is highly recommended. Walk-ins are accepted on a first come, first served basis therefore there is no guarantee. Due to limited parking capacity and for responsible alcohol use, Beau Constantia strongly recommends making use of a taxi service or uber when visiting.
Chef patron Ivor Jones is a classic and experimental creative for Chefs Warehouse, the sought-after restaurant at Beau Constantia. As the seasons change and inspire him, Ivor flows through ideas and ingredients and adjusts, adapts and improves on classics while fusing flavors, techniques and fermentations. Always looking to highlight the best of what is local and fresh, Ivor sparks a lust for experimentation in food and his team, and it shows in his beautiful plates.
