This vintage market operates as a multi-trader concept store featuring 12 different traders, each with their own distinct style and curation.
Established in 2016 by owner Lynette Penny, the business evolved from an online trading group that held pop-up events before opening a permanent location in 2017. Penny left her position in the hair industry to pursue her passion for vintage and collectables, collaborating with fellow traders she had worked with at various markets.
Penny drew inspiration from Camden Market in the UK when designing the aesthetic, creating a market-style environment that offers thrift clothing, steampunk pieces, festival wear, alternative fashion and vintage garments. The traders invest extensive effort in sourcing items, travelling across the country and importing pieces. Each item is washed, ironed, steamed and repaired before being displayed. The shop is noted for its Dr Martens and New Rock boot selection. Prices range from R20 for certain clothing items to R1,500 for fur pieces.
The shop is renowned for staff engagement with customers, loud music, and a regularly updated layout, contributing to an energetic shopping experience.
The business also hosts collaborative events, including markets at Nude Foods grocery store in Zonnebloem featuring live music and multiple vintage traders.
