An Open-Air Museum, it features thatched houses, grinding stones and calabashes that were used in olden days. This village remains in the same style as it was 25 years ago, and is run by several leading BaSotho members.
The on-site cultural village gives guests the opportunity to explore the traditional homesteads, learn how to make a real fire, brew beer, and see how maize is ground. There are also handcrafting demonstrations, including woodcarving, pottery, basketry and beadwork. Well-informed tour guides are available, and they provide insight into the traditional and modern-day culture and lifestyle of the Bakone people.
The museum area is also open for picnics and braais. Bookings are essential. A craft shop sells locally produced goods at affordable prices. Other attractions nearby include archaeological sites as well as ancient rock paintings.
