Event information
Unmute Dance Theatre presents a three-day inclusive arts festival bringing together artists with and without disabilities from South Africa, Namibia and Uganda. The 2026 programme celebrates women artists under the banner Celebrating Creative Excellence Beyond Labels, and mixes dance, visual arts, performance, film and dialogue.
The dance line-up includes Namibian dancers Ethan Philander, the 2025 Best Newcomer award recipient, and Olivia Hendjala, alongside Ugandan performer and choreographer Joseph Tebandeke. South African artists include Jabu Siphika of Durban’s FLATFOOT Dance Company, Cape Town choreographer Jamie Lee Jansen, Mthokozisi Mkhwanazi, Thimna Ndwe, Unmute trainee Jesse Jacobs and Johannesburg-based ballroom and Latin specialist Roseline Wilkens.
The visual arts programme features documentary photographer Andile Bhala and multidisciplinary artist Tony Luza.
Unmute is South Africa’s only full-time professional inclusive dance company, and has spent 13 years building training and employment pathways for artists with disabilities. The festival aims to become Africa’s leading inclusive arts festival.
