Event information
Food Indaba puts art and food in conversation with each other with its series of Art High Teas and a photography exhibition. Formerly known as Food Dialogues, this year's events take place at venues across Cape Town.
Two Art Café High Tea events offer guests the chance to learn about culinary and visual creation. Two teas featuring two different artists are hosted at the 16 on Lerotholi Gallery in Langa. Tickets for both are R550 each. Children are welcome.
On Saturday 27 July, artist and culinary curator Parusha Naidoo hosts the first high tea. From 2pm to 4pm, she discusses her Indian heritage, food, power and belonging over a thali of South African breads, spreads, chutneys, pickles and cakes. Her discussion is accompanied with masala teas.
The second Art Café High Tea is from 2pm to 4pm on Saturday 3 August, where multidisciplinary artist Tapiwa Guzha talks during Svutusove: a five-course drink and ice cream/sorbet conversation. Guzha's discussion highlights foraged fynbos, continental plants and native plant life displacement.
A photography exhibition of recipes and meals cooked and enjoyed in African homes is on display at the V&A Waterfront's Luxury Lane from 22 July to 3 August. The show features a series of 12 works by last year's winners of the ICLEI Africa African Photography Competition.
