Event information
Ardmore is a thriving artist community in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands. The studio was founded in 1985 by Zimbabwean-born ceramic artist Fée Halsted, and later shaped by a collaboration with Fée’s first student, Bonnie Ntshalintshali. The venture was started on the Ardmore farm at the foothills of the Drakensberg.
Ardmore soon evolved into a luxury lifestyle brand, and now transforms African art into global design through fabric, wallpaper, furniture, ceramics, cushions and table ware. More than 60 artists draw on Zulu folklore, history, and the natural world to create handcrafted ceramic art that includes highly detailed figurative works and functional wares.
Each Ardmore piece is a collaborative process and these works have become much sought-after modern collectibles. Similarly, each Ardmore Design fabric pattern tells a story, and is often the work of many hands.
With exclusivity in mind, Ardmore produces limited quantity goods, so each ceramic piece is either unique, or produced as part of a limited run.
