Event information
33BREE presents a dual exhibition of new work by Isabel Crause and Mické Buitendag, named for the opening of a flower. The accompanying imagery shows lush botanical forms, loose brushwork and passages of abstraction, with soft pinks and creamy whites set against deep greens and burgundy, and petals and foliage emerging through overlapping layers of colour.
Seen together, the works invite attention to the relationship between recognisable floral shapes and the expressive possibilities of paint, with broad gestures alongside more delicate marks that suggest forms still unfolding. The two-artist format lets visitors encounter both artists side by side in one show.
Jaret Loggenberg and Barbara Lenhard welcome guests to the opening evening. Art lovers and collectors are invited, and advance registration is requested to help with catering. 33BREE is the sister gallery to The Artists Gallery at 34 Bree Street, and its entrance is on Waterkant Street.
