The details
The Alliance aims to promote the French language and francophone cultures within the framework of intercultural exchanges between France, Francophone countries and South Africa.
Music is very much a part of this programme, guests get to experience both touring bands and local acts. Jazz Nights happen on the last Friday of every month from 7:30pm –10pm. The Jazz in the Native Yards series can also regularly be seen here. There’s a cash bar.
A busy events calendar includes First Thursday festivities and free subtitled French film screenings on the 2nd and 4th Tuesdays of each month for adults, and on the 2nd Friday of each month for children.
Alliance Française Cape Town also works with various South African partnerships, such as Artscape Theatre (Cape Town Opera) and The Cape Town International Jazz Festival. A special partnership with France Volontaire, Région Réunion and FEDER (European Found) provides the opportunity to promote ‘metissage’ (mixing of cultures) through artists from Reunion Island. It also stocks a media library with CDs, DVDs, books, and more.
All Covid-19 protocols are enforced.
