Event information
The Two Oceans Aquarium and Texx and the City present After Dark, a winter concert series of stripped-down performances staged in the viewing area of the I&J Ocean Exhibit. The August edition features FREDDY L and Petrol Station Pies.
FREDDY L is a South African alternative rock trio based between Durban and Cape Town, formed by lead vocalist and songwriter Ntuthuko (Freddy) Lalendle, with Reece Berkeley on drums and production and Niclaus Duvenhage on bass and production. The band released their debut album Roadside Assistance in early 2026 and were subsequently selected for Apple Music's Up Next artist development programme in South Africa. Their sound blends alternative rock and indie influences with South African singer-songwriter sensibilities.
Petrol Station Pies are a Cape Town noise punk band known for their abrasive, high-energy live performances and singles including "Bela Lugosi" and "Truly Dead". The contrast between the two acts, FREDDY L's melodic, textured indie sound and Petrol Station Pies' raw punk energy, is a deliberate part of the evening's programme.
The ticket price includes aquarium entry. The After Dark series runs across three winter evenings, July, August and September, at the same venue.
