Event information
The AfriPaw Half Marathon is run/walk in aid of Vrygrond people and their pets.
The event can accommodate only 100 runners/walkers to lace up for their cause. It is more a run than a race, but participants are more than welcome to take the route as fast or as slow as they please.
The starting point is the Life Saving Cub at Fish Hoek Beach and the scenic route takes participants all along the coast towards Fisherman's beach, which is about 1km past Simon's town country club and back. Water stations are available along the route.
For those who would like to participate but feel that the full distance is too far, there are other run options, including a run/walk in a relay team of 2 x 10.25km each, OR run/walk 10kms together as a team, turning around at the 5km mark, as long as the team finishes within three hours.
The entry fee includes refreshments at the various stations, a branded First Ascent race t-shirt, special race pack, breakfast roll and hot drink at the end of the run as well as fabulous prizes for the top three Finishers, Fundraisers and Funkiest dressers.
By signing up, participants are agreeing to personally raise a minimum of R1000 (R2000 for a team of 2) towards an overall goal of R150 000. The fundraising platforms are provided, and all participants need to do is rally their friends' and families' support.
