30 years after its first opening, Caffé Balducci has returned to Cape Town, bringing a vibrant all-day café to the streets of Sea Point. Refreshed with a new address, look, and menu, it’s the latest trendy addition to the city’s thriving coffee and dining scene, it is now open to guests looking for a social sit-down near the ocean.

Closing down after COVID following over 20 years of being an Italian staple in the Mother City, Caffé Balducci puts a new twist on the brand. The brand-new menu has something for everyone, while keeping the Mediterranean favourites that made the original so beloved.
Coffee is a big focus, with ceremonial-grade matcha made for a variety of drinks, including an Iced White Chocolate Matcha. Breakfast sees a mix of sweet and savoury options, including Brioche French Toast and Classico Eggs Benedict alongside nutritious smoothies and power bowls.
The lunch menu is classic Italian style, featuring Neapolitan-style wood-fired pizzas, an array of pasta and gnocchi (including arrabbiata, butternut ravioli, and ostrich lasagna), and panini’s for light bites before 5pm. Wagyu and vegetarian burgers with secret sauce are available, as is a curated selection of seafood including Mozambican shellfish, Norwegian salmon, fresh linefish, and more.
Meat-lovers can indulge in a variety of grass-fed, dry-aged steaks from sister restaurant Belthazar, while the Asian Noodles & Sushi Bar has everything from poke bowls to wok-tossed noodles and fresh sushi. Those with a sweet tooth can end the night off with Philadelphia cheesecake, Biscoff tiramisu, malva pudding, or double-thick milkshakes that come in flavours such as Oreo cheesecake and Dubai chocolate.
The wine list is another highlight, with a dedicated wine bar serving 60 premium Cape wines by the glass, alongside fresh-fruit cocktails, whiskeys, Cognac, liqueurs, craft beers, and ciders.
