This month, Hazendal Wine Estate is hosting Between Two Worlds, a multi-sensory garden experience curated by the award-winning landscape designer Leon Kluge. The exhibition transports visitors into an evocative state between wake and sleep through the use of tropical fantasy design and imagery. Here’s everything you need to know about the exhibition and the mind behind it.

About the Exhibition
Between Two Worlds is an internationally-acclaimed landscape exhibition by Leon Kluge, which has won multiple top awards, including as a gold medal, Best on Show, and Best Lighting awards at the Singapore Garden Festival. The exhibition immerses attendees in its tropical fairytale landscape, with its trickling water, moss-covered rocks, and expansive tree root structures. Now, the exhibition is finally returning to Kluge’s home country for this period at Hazendal Wine Estate.
Leon Kluge is an internationally acclaimed landscape artist and botanist known for his bold and thought-provoking creations. Aside from his success at the Singapore Garden Festival, Kluge led team South Africa to multiple awards at the 2024 RHS Chelsea Flower Show in London, including “Best Exhibit in the Pavilion” as well as “Best New Design” – a historic victory for South African flora, after a four-year hiatus from the show.
This year, Hazendal is working as a key sponsor of Leon Kluge’s South African Pavillion at the 2025 RHS Chelsea Flower Show taking place in London. Hazendal is also partnering with Kluge to reimagine the gardens across the historic property and to create in the farm’s vineyards a new botanical garden dedicated to the renosterveld community of the Cape Floristic Region.
