Vela Projects hosts the solo exhibition of ceramic artist Dominic Pretorius in his show titled 'Urn Burial'.
Pretorius' show offers a deep contemplation of mortality, memory and spirituality through an exploration of the formation and history of urns. These urns continue from the artist's established practice engaging with funerary urns objects with practical function, in addition to spiritual and artistic values.
Within a long-standing tradition of forming clay as a way to tell people's life stories, see a collection of urns boasting both figures and abstract forms.
A visit to this show offers a deep contemplative space to face the harsh reality of life and death, as well as the overwhelming scale of history.
'Urn Burials' runs until 12 October 2024.
