Opened in May 2011, The Atterbury Theatre is a modern 400 seater multi genre venue that features music shows, drama productions and comedy: anything from a signature Nataniël production to an album launch. As a bilingual theatre, content is delivered in English and Afrikaans.
The theatre is located in the Lynwood Bridge Retail Shopping Centre. Angus Taylor sculptures complement the space, which forms part of four separate buildings on the ground floor. The foyer and bar area lead out onto a balcony with a view of the Pretoria cityscape.
The theatre's acoustic design informs the shape, heights, volumes and surface finishes of the auditorium. Studio 3 Architects International, the designers of the theatre, won the 8th Saint Gobain International Trophy in the innovation category for selected products used in the design of the ceiling of the theatre.
