SboNdaba Dance is all about empowering performing artists.
SboNdaba Dance is a registered non-profit company focusing on creating employment by building both a professional capacity and professional platforms for the under-developed performing arts industry in South Africa. As local dancers embark on their professional training, SboNdaba Dance equips them with a wide range of performances and other vitally important skills in order to increase dancer’s ability to sustain themselves in the arts industry.
The award-winning choreographer Sbonakaliso Ndaba leads the vision of the new company as artistic director. She is joined by highly skilled and experienced arts educators and administrators Jennifer van Papendorp as managing director and Paula Kelly as operations director.
Founding artists at SboNdaba Dance were chosen for their passion for performance, and are Aphiwe Sodlamba, Johannes Tieties, Lusindiso Dibela, Litha Makanda, Lolwethu Sdumo, Nontlahla Budaza, Mellisa Mathiso, Mthetheleli Dlakavu, Mitchell Ndimphiwe Makateng, Sesethu Liwana, Sinazo Mxeli, Thandiwe John, Vuyolwethu Mdluli, Wanie Johannes.
Ndaba hosts evening classes for adults and weekend classes for children aged between 4 and 13 on the weekends.
