The call of the fish eagle and Orange River sunsets are part of the allure of a Sakkie se Arkie sunset cruise. This large river boat in Upington takes guests on 1½ hour rides which focus on birding and soaking up the sinking Kalahari sun whilst drifting along the Orange River.
Families and children are welcome on these relaxed outings, which are ideal for nature lovers wanting a glimpse of surrounding islands and streams.
Climb aboard the Arkie from 5.30pm. There is a fully licensed bar on-board, which is available for snacks and alcoholic beverages to people above the age of 18. The Arkie has lower and upper decks with ablution facilities and can accommodate up to 50 guests.
Other water sport activities are also available, and there is a campsite suitable for caravans and tents with electricity and water points.
