POPArt is a Johannesburg based independent production company and performing arts centre specialising in the Live Arts and the creation, development, showcasing and promotion of new South African entertainment works and cultural products. They host various productions and live shows, including their live improv night series, Causing a Scene, which takes place a number of times a year at various venues in Joburg.
Causing a Scene features a fearless ensemble of quick-witted performers who transform any stage into a whirlwind of hilarious scenes, outrageous characters and spontaneous brilliance with everything made up on the spot with the help of audience suggestion. In some cases, they up the ante by giving the performers extra challenges, such as having them improvise in the multiple different languages to create a multi-cultural and diverse story.
This live improv series is just one of the ways that POPArt aims to elevate the global reputation of South African entertainment and entertainers, and promote art that makes a difference to society at large.
