Event information
Exhibitions at the Moruleng Cultural Precinct cover traditional Batswana indigenous systems; an analysis of colonial collections and representations; the recorded history of the Bakgatla-Ba-Kgafela; oral traditions; a reconstruction of an Iron Age settlement, and an exhibition in the old Dutch Reformed Church building that explores the influence of Christianity.
The venue creates visitor experiences that encourage interaction and participation through interactive drumming, the preparation of meals using indigenous methods, traditional food tasting, as well as the plastering floors using cow dung. The tours are not just about oral presentation, but also a practical experience of the life of a Mokgatla: people of the Bakgatla ba Kgafela tribe.
