Lindfield Victorian House Tour

Event information

Lindfield Victorian House Museum was originally a small cottage designed by the English architect, Herber Baker, in 1910. Now a Provincial Heritage Site, the house has 19th and 20th Century art, furniture, decorative and utilitarian objects to admire that represent the historic Edwardian and Victorian eras.

The house presents an opportunity to step into Victorian life, by being taken through a guided tour. The house has been preserved to be a window into the Victorian period, and most of the rooms in the house are open to the public, including a drawing room, reception rooms, gentleman’s library, formal dining room and music room. A children’s dining room and nursery, bathrooms, pantry and kitchen can also be viewed bringing the total to 18 rooms.

The living museum can be toured daily, with tours lasting up to two hours. Tours are by appointment only and must be booked at least one day prior. Guided tours with tea and cake served in the dining room are also available.

Venue address: 72 Richmond Ave, Auckland Park, Johannesburg
