Kagyu Samye Dzong Randburg

Event information

Kagyu Samye Dzong Randburg is part of a network of Kagyu Africa Tibetan Buddhist centres, five of which are found in Southern Africa including the Kensington, Cape Town, Groot Marico, Pretoria and Zimbabwe centres.

The centres function as part of a non-profit religious trust, a part of Rokpa International. Activities are carried out under the guidance of Dr Akong Tulku Rinpoche whose African representative is Professor Rob Nairn.

Kagyu Samye Dzong Randburg offers weekly programmes of meditation and courses on aspects of Buddhism including compassion, therapy, dreams and relieving stress.

Mind training sessions happen every Thursday evening using video teachings or skype sessions with teachers in Europe. Green TaraPuja: the practice of clearing obstacles and fears takes place every Saturday morning at no cost. Sunday mornings are reserved for fun teaching sessions for kids from four to 10 years. Teachings include basic meditation and crafty activities.

A special monthly activity is the Bardo Group meeting which is created to help the dying through the death process and prepare people for the important course of their own death.
Kagyu Samye Dzong Randburg is open to everyone.
