Event information
The Irene Spring Jazz Picnic is a music and lifestyle family event curated for discerning music lovers.
Held at the beautiful Irene Country Club, guests enjoy a picnic under the spring sun, surrounded by greens and serenaded by big names in South African jazz. The main act for the event is the great Tete Mbambisa, a giant in the jazz scene.
Having taught himself how to play the piano, Mbambisa used his talent to help preserve South Africa's acoustic jazz tradition during the genre's decline in the 1970s and 1980s. Supported by the inventive jazz stylings of the Bokani Dyer trio, rising star trumpeter, Michael Nkuna and jazz curators, the Vinyl Fellas, the show is set to be a triumphant celebration of local jazz.
