Event information
Christa Swart is the gallery manager and curator of the Gallery at Glen Carlou. Her research has concentrated on theories of identity, with a focus on photographic portraiture. The venue features a large 480 m² exhibition space, specifically designed to showcase extraordinary installations and artwork of all shapes and sizes.
Over time, Glen Carlou has sourced work from all corners of the world. It currently showcases a collection of contemporary, pop and modern art by South African artists. Mediums are as diverse as installation, photography, contemporary embroidery and ceramics, which contrast with more traditional painting and sculpture.
The exhibition space is conveniently situated adjacent to the wine estate’s tasting room-cum-bistro in the visitors centre. It affords the opportunity to appreciate the creative prowess of both famous and emerging artists.
Gallery at Glen Carlou also hosts workshops by the likes of The Institute for Contemporary Art Practice.
