Fokofpolisiekarwas formed in 2003 when a group of friends from Bellville decided to start an Afrikaans rock band. Their sound was fresh and very different from the Afrikaans rock pioneers that came before them.
In the twenty-one years since their formation, they have achieved cult status and become a household name in South Africa.
The band members - Hunter Kennedy (guitar & lyrics), Jaco S. Venter (drums), Francois van Coke (vocals), Wynand Myburgh (bass guitar), and Johnny de Ridder (guitar) always put on a great show and get the audience jamming along.
Fokofpolisiekar is known for their explosive performances and raw, relentless energy on stage. The band’s controversial and thought-provoking lyrics have stirred significant debate in the South African media.
