The much-anticipated FNB Varsity Cup returns, packed with rugby action from the celebrated teams of various public universities in the country. For university students, the Varsity Cup is an opportunity to display school spirit and celebrate the athletic skills of some of their fellow classmates.
Though the matches tend to bring a large student population, all are welcome to purchase a ticket. During the first quarter of the year, there are two home matches for the University of Witwatersrand (Wits) team. The first game is against the Central University of Technology (CUT), whilst the second is against the 2023 runners-up, the University of Cape Town's (UCT's) Ikey Tigers.
Tickets for these games are available for purchase online now but can also be bought at the gates. Following these two matches is one more home game before the tournament continues based on the outcomes of the first sets of games. Those game fixtures will be announced at a later stage.
